Intensity and exertion of workouts for older people
Do you ever wonder how much exertion you put out during a workout, or maybe how intense the workout is? I am sure that there are days when you feel like you could lift weights all day without stopping and I am also sure that there are days with quite the opposite results. Can you measure the intensity of your workout?
Why is it important to know how much exertion you are using will working out?
When you are doing your exercises properly and giving the right amount of exertion your body is achieving the most benefit. But that’s not to say that you should push it to the limit every time you exercise (actually you shouldn’t ever overdo any type of physical activity especially if you are older in age).
How do you gauge your exertion during a workout?
How you feel while you are exercising is probably the best and easiest way to deal how much effort you are putting in to it. It is also the best way to determine if you are over doing it as well. If you are having a difficult time catching your breath or you are in pain then you are definitely overdoing it.
Intensifying your workout is a good idea but you have to remember to gradually build up to that intensity whether is its aerobic exercises or strength training.
